Established in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-code Top-Level Domain is quite popular both locally and in the English-speaking world. Since there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of various territories and localities in Italy reserved for local 3rd-level registrations, new names that include geographical areas of any kind are not permitted on any level to avoid any future confusion.
